2008 NPC Southern States Review by
Juan Carlos Lopez

Sunny Florida hosted the epic Southern States which is a very well known and classic show in the area. Peter Potter promoted this show and did a great job with it. This was my first time coming to this show so didn't know what to expect. Its a show that has many different classes for competitors and runs into two days.

Figure A was for Melanie Benitez who came in with a small package, Dana Greeson trained by guru Greg "The Wizard" Hasberry. Third for Karla Cepeda, 4th Claudia Sofronia and 5th Sandy Robidoux.

Figure B had the same judging style giving the win to Ashley Cooper would go and compete at USAs. Mary Dent took second, Mary Repice with a great package and good muscle came in third, Khristy Poteat another great body took 4th and Kristine Henigman took 5th.

Figure C was for Brandy Glidewell who took first over Tivisay Robles, Carolyn Jimenez took 3rd, and Roseanne Duvigneaud 4th and Magda Gallazo 5th.

Crystal Rush

Figure D Crystal Rush took the class and overall given a solid package that is competitive national level. Holly Beck came in second with another strong package. Gennifer Conn third, Stephanie Nadeau 4th and Andrea Irick in 5th.

In Fitness Kristine Henigman won the overall over Taryn Rivero and Jamie Marcus.

The Over 30 was for Jamie Baird and it included 2nd place Gennifer Conn, Dana Greeson in third, Mandy Repice 4th and Magda Gallazo in 5th. By now the judging was favoring for sure smaller frames and packages.

Over 40 was for Holly Beck and over 50 was for Maureen O'Connell.

Ashalyn Porter

Bodybuilding overall was for Ashalyn Porter on the heavyweights. Gaby more took the middleweights, Rebecca Gore the lightweights. Maria Carmen won the masters bodybuilding at her over 50 category as well.
