2008 Europa Super Show Review by Juan Carlos Lopez

Another edition of the 2008 Europa Super Show courtesy of Ed & Betty Pariso. This show is becoming more and more massive every year. Friday seemed to be smaller but when Saturday came around it really filled out. It will be competing if not passing the Ironman Expo for 2009 as far as exposure and booth numbers.

Bernadette Galvan

The pro figure had a lineup of around 38 competitors alone. Bernadette Galvan with a small frame and tight body won first, Hazal Nelson with a softer look took second, Jelena Abbou with her tight abs and softer look won third. Shannon Meteraud who sustained an injury and couldn't do fitness took 4th. Shannon is always on spot on her body. Stephanie Tulin was a nice surprise as her package was tight and in good shape. Other physiques that stood out was Tivisay Briceno and Jane Award given their excellent conditioning and overall balanced package both in even conditioning and bodyparts. As you can see the on going agenda for a softer look with less muscle is clear and even on the IFBB level it is being enforced.

Myriam Capes

Fitness was for Tracey Greenwood who always brings a sharp physique with great balance. Erin Riley took second who also came in very well conditioned and performed an excellent routine. Nicole Duncan came in softer but again had a outstanding routine. Bethany Gainey and Brenda Santiago placed 4th and 5th respectively. Both performed good routines and physique-wise were very tight. Other outstanding physique and routine was Myriam Capes. From Canada she brings a very good package with now less muscle but still excellent moves and performed an unreal front flip that left the crowd amazed. Nicole Duncan did a backwards diagonal rotation in the air to land on one hand and feet horizontally.

Jennifer Sedia

Lightweights in the pro division was full of excellent bodies, Jennifer Sedia had the best physique overall, fuller, more muscle and well conditioned. Nicole Ball was more conditioned but much smaller and not as balanced as Sedia. Klaudia Larson took 3rd and has improved greatly. Debbie Bramwell was also looking great as well and placed 4th, Claudia Partenza in 5th while she improves her physique show by show.

Sherry Smith

Heavyweights was all for Sherry Smith both size and conditioning. Kim Perez took 2nd with her tiny waist and great cuts. Annie Rivieccio took 3rd, Irene Andersen 4th and Jana Linke 5th. Lots of big masses and could have used a couple great bodies as well such as Tazzie Colomb for example.

Tina Francis

NPC Figure was also geared to pleasing the softer look and smaller frames. In class A Alicia Bell took the class, the rest of the other bodies were more muscular and would have fit better a few years back or even last year. Tracy Winters who also competed in fitness was looking very good in her upper body, Kandace Shelby took 2nd, Flor August in 4th with now less muscles. In 5th place was Tina Francis who was one of the best surprises to come out, great balance look and even conditioning.

Carla Williams

Class B was for Claudia Olvera who beat Carla Williams who was 2nd place and looked unreal and very well conditioned. This is something that again the NPC is not wanting; more conditioning and better muscle bellies. Jennifer Siskron in 3rd, Susan Zaleski in 4th and Arlene Wharton in 5th.

In Class C Judy Rodriguez won the class and also the overall, she fits well the new criteria and has good conditioning. Melissa Pittman took second and was looking very good in the area of conditioning. Jennifer Winters took 3rd, Angela pena 4th and Michelle Lacost in 5th.

Class D Brigette Blount was the winner, Michelle Craven in 2nd, Michelle Sheppard in 3rd, Kerri Smith in 4th and Jennifer Ranking in 5th. Rankin has a great look that will do well with the NPC once she can add more size to her frame.

Masters Figure 35+ was for Kim Sheppard, Jennifer Winters in 2nd, Sharon Kestler in 3rd doing her come back with short hair now, Karla Coe in 4th and Arlene Wharton in 5th. The over 45 was for Tina Allen, placing in 2nd was Joanna Frichtel, Kathy Cook in 3rd and Donna Duncan in 4th.

Fitness was for Tracy Winters who has great potential for nationals soon. Rachel Dodd in second, Wendy Zimmerman in 3rd, Colorado native Lauren Niehaus in 4th and Jennifer Siskron in 5th.
