How did you get interested in bodybuilding/working out?

When I stopped doing gymnastics at the age of 14, I joined a local gym to stay in shape. During my years playing softball at UConn, I had a weight training/conditioning program to follow. When I graduated from UConn, I went back to my local gym and many people told me I should compete. In 2003, I went to a local fitness show and fell in love with the sport. Competing in fitness competitions gives me the opportunity to continue my competitive drive and I can combine both my strength and gymnastic skills.

How was your first show like, any interesting experiences?

During my first show, there were not many competitors. This was a good thing because I had only learned my fitness routine two weeks before. In fact, during the middle of my routine, I forgot parts of it. Thanks to my gymnastic experiences, I was able to make things up until I remembered what I was suppose to be doing. Also, during the physique round, we had to do bodybuilding poses in our heels. I had to learn the poses backstage, along with having my first stage experience walking in my heels. Everything was a learning experience, but I had a lot of fun!

What do you like and dislike about competing?

I absolutely love standing on stage knowing I look the best that I can and that all of my hard work has paid off. I also love entertaining the crowd with my fitness routines and becoming friends with the other competitors. Dieting is the hardest thing for me. I love to eat and I have a sweet tooth!

What are your future goals in this industry?

I hope to earn my pro card in 2005 and gain some sponsorships. I want to be a role model to other fitness competitors by competing in pro shows as a natural athlete.

What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?

In 10 years, I hope to still be actively competing and promoting the sport of fitness. I also hope to be married to a supportive husband and to have started a family. I do see myself still teaching and I'll be continuing to influence my students to live a healthy life.

Please tell us something special about you that most people wouldn't know?

I went to the University of Connecticut on a full softball scholarship. I graduated with my Master's in Elementary Education and I graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Any additional notes? People you would like to thank?

I would especially like to thank all my family and friends for their continuous support and for always believing in me. I would also like to thank my choreographer/friend Cathy Savage for drawing me into the sport and for giving me the guidance I need for the fitness world. She immediately got me on stage and creates unbelievable fitness routines. A special thanks goes to Kim Oddo who has created a nutrition and workout plan that has put me on the road to earning my pro card. He knows the ins and outs of the sport, and during my shows, he has me prepared physically and mentally. I am very lucky to have such a strong support system all around me.
