Julie Lohre IFBB Fitness Pro

How did you get interested in bodybuilding/working out?

I had a baby and wanted to get back in shape. I saw FAP on ESPN and knew it was something I could do. After that I went to the Arnold Classic and positively feel in love with the sport.

How was your first show like, any interesting experiences?

My first show will always be the most rewarding. I won the Overall at the 2003 Northern Kentucky Figure in a class of over 40 women. It was exactly five months to the day after I had my son and my entire family was there cheering for me

What do you like and dislike about competing?

I love the amount of working out it takes to be in competitive shape. It is also fun to get to do the girlie things like having your hair and nails done, because it is really the only time I do those things. I am more of a tomboy. The most rewarding part of competing is talking with women that tell me I have inspired them to get in shape or even begin competing. The part I dislike most is the tanning! Yuck! Closely followed by the dieting.

What are your future goals in this industry?

I am so excited to begin a pro career. I love fitness and want to do everything I possibly can to promote the sport and have a positive influence on the fans. I strive to be the best I possibly can each time I compete and hope my ever evolving physique and the routines that I love to perform are received positively

What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?

I hope to be happy and healthy in a body that the sport of fitness has helped me create. I plan to be my son's biggest fan in whatever he chooses to do and to have partially paid my husband back for all of the grief it takes to be a fitness husband. There my be perks, but there sure are hardships too.

Please tell us something special about you that most people wouldn't know?

I endured 18 hours of natural childbirth because I was too proud to say I changed my mind, did a internship program in Washington DC and am a reformed McDonald's junkie.

Any additional notes? People you would like to thank?

I would most like to thank my husband (trainer/financial supporter/therapist/all around good guy) and my son who have put up with a tired, carb-deplete mom & wife too many times, but still been there everytime I needed them. I want to thank my family that has always believed in my and from whom I like to say that I got my 'good jeans'. I also want to thank the great people at Beverly International that got me started on this path and have supported me along the road.
